The Global Center on Adaptation (GCA) is seeking a proactive and well-organized intern to support the External Affairs team. This team is pivotal in establishing relationships with national and international governments, organizations, and other relevant stakeholders to advocate for climate adaptation measures. Internship Role
The External Affairs Intern will contribute to delivering high-level events and partnerships, managing relationships with governments and international organizations. Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing for political summits and drafting briefings.
- Attending meetings with stakeholders and monitoring climate news.
- Providing horizon-scanning and assisting with communications.
- Managing GCA’s extensive stakeholder and contact lists.
Internship Details
- Host Institution: Global Center on Adaptation (GCA)
- Location: GCA headquarters in Rotterdam, with some flexibility in hours and location.
- Duration: Six months (start date negotiable).
- Compensation: €500 monthly stipend.

Eligibility Criteria
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in international relations, politics, economics, media, relevant sciences, or a closely related field.
- Strong commitment to or interest in international relations, development, and climate change diplomacy, with a focus on adaptation.
- Excellent research, analytical, writing, and editing skills.
- Outstanding interpersonal communication abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Fluency in English is required; proficiency in French is advantageous.
- Necessary work visa to work in the EU.
